Hope in Kern County
Hope is excited to partner with Kern County, bringing our knowledge and skill set to eliminate poverty, hunger, and homelessness.
The first Tiny Homes in Kern County, this site will comprise 50 Tiny Home Units; we will provide 24/7 Interim Housing services, Case Management, and various other on-site programs.
Hope on Hart Street
According to the 2023 Point in Time Count, out of the nearly 1,948 individuals experiencing homelessness in Kern, most of them are located in the Bakersfield Metro area, including Oildale, East Bakersfield, and Rosedale. This Tiny Home Community will consist of 152 Beds in Kern County. This once-empty lot is being transformed into a beacon of HOPE for those homeless in the Kern County Area.
The site will comprise of 50 Tiny Home Units, we will provide 24/7 Interim Housing services, Case Management, and various other programs on site.
This site is still under construction and we should be expecting our first participants in March 2024.

On January 22, 2024, Hope the Mission opened a brand-new thrift store in Bakersfield, California. 100% of all profits from the thrift store will go directly towards providing critical supportive services to the unhoused in Kern County and surrounding communities. This is the first Hope the Mission thrift store in Kern County.
The Bakersfield store will offer discounted articles of clothing, small appliances, toys, electronics, small furniture, and more to the community. A destination store for hidden treasures that will inspire the thrifting community of Kern County. Our thrift stores are socially responsible social enterprises that reduce clothing and other household waste, provide fair-wage jobs, and reinvest all profits into the community.
